Bitcoin and reaching $100,000 by Christmas

The Bitcoin market is once again entering a period that may significantly influence its short-term development. According to Bitcoin News, analyst Geoffrey Kendrick from Standard Chartered accurately predicted the drop below $100,000, but underestimated how quickly the situation could reverse.

Will Bitcoin reach $100,000 by the end of the year?

According to TradingView, Bitcoin fell to as low as $80,000 and has since been attempting to regain stable ground. Kendrick, however, emphasized that this may be the last time the cryptocurrency trades below the psychological level of $100,000.

For Bitcoin to surpass the $100,000 mark by the end of the year, it would need to gain approximately another 9.20% from its current level. Such a move is technically possible, especially with more than 30 days of trading left in 2025. Moreover, Bitcoin appreciated by roughly 13% over the past week, showing that momentum can shift rapidly after a sharp decline.

The issue, however, is that this bounce was essentially just a natural reaction to an extreme sell-off. The correction was so deep that even a return to $100,000 would not automatically signal the beginning of a new bullish phase. The market is still coping with the fact that Bitcoin slipped from around $108,000 down to $80,000 without any significant stopping point.

Macroeconomic environment at the end of 2025

The past few weeks have brought several developments that may support further recovery. Most notably, a statement from New York Fed President John Williams suggested the possibility of early rate cuts. This immediately boosted both stocks and Bitcoin, as markets began pricing in a more favorable monetary environment.

An important new layer was added by a report published by Bloomberg, stating that Kevin Hassett — former head of the National Economic Council — is increasingly mentioned as the frontrunner to become the next Fed Chair after Jerome Powell’s planned departure in May. Hassett has long supported a policy of lower interest rates.

The market received this information as a signal that the Fed may proceed with rate cuts as early as December. According to the CME FedWatch Tool, the probability of such a move reached 85%, creating room for increased investor optimism.
